A couple weeks sure goes by quickly when you’re on the move. This week’s Life Enhancer newsletter is What’s Up Wednesday. 🙂
As our sensational two week house sit in Squamish, BC, came to an end June 1, we were sad to say good bye to our new buddy and beautiful black lab Maggie. Caring for not only someone’s home, but there furry family member is a true honour and we were grateful L&C invited our family into their lovely home. Though Dai and the girls conquered the iconic Chief mountain with the Sunday Funday crew, we definitely plan to return to Squamish to explore more trails and experience the Sea to Sky Gondola, Britannia Mines (we hear they have a MineCraft theme) and some rock climbing when the sun is shining.
On June 1st we had the pleasure of contributing to #TheGivingEffect inspired by TELUS. Our family had the opportunity to hold a fundraising event for Ruben’s Shoes, a non-profit organization that raises awareness for education. With the help of TELUS and a local non-dairy creamery Nice Vice, we collected second hand shoes so children can attend school in countries such as the Dominican Republic. We also accepted cash donations toward Ruben’s build a school initiative. Though it turned out to be one rainy afternoon, the community contributed 120 pairs of shoes and over $400 for Ruben’s Shoes. The power of people is incredible.
As our week of giving continued, we were honored to be invited to participate in the#MiracleWeekend for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (@BCCHF) and man the phone lines and collecting donations for our Grind For Kids Summit Seekers powered by RYU and Trace. A record breaking year exceeding over $20 million raised over the 2 day event. Amazing!
Have you heard of Global Wellness Day?
We had no idea until RYU invited Dai to be one of the fitness leaders at the Four Season Vancouver on Tuesday evening. Imagine a private roof top patio pool in the city centre and 40 people who committed to a complimentary workout event, uber cool experience we highly recommend checking out next year.
As we were set to depart Vancouver, we heard word that Chardonae’s goal of attending her grade 7 camp out experience was a reality. We aren’t sure we have ever witnessed someone so excited, she was literally vibrating with joy. Since grade 3 she has looked forward to the year end celebration where the grade 7s of her school spend 2 nights at a Boys ‘n Girls Camp in Howe Sound. Three days of kayaking, rope courses, swimming, camp fire entertainment, games, and family style dining with her classmates. Though C misses school a fair bit, we earned a good parent card to get us through the next few months, thank goodness. 🙂
So come Friday evening we were off to spend the next few weeks in North Bend, Washington and that’s where we are now. With little Spencer too! We have had the pleasure of returning to our very first stop on our first phase of the #WLFMroadtrip in January. Imagine a beautiful and inviting home on a private lake, surrounded by mountains, tall trees, and sheep. Yes, we’re at the ‘farm’ the girls continue to hold in a top spot of our living life differently experiences. The house dog Sheba welcomed us with some major tail waging and their are new bunnies to visit with. Though it’s been stormy and cold, we’ve conquered some board games and really enjoyed our family cuddles watching movies on the gigantic couch!
Over the next couple weeks we will be planning out phase two of our #WLFMroadtrip where we will be exploring our own country and heading east across Canada with a little dip down into the eastern US to connect with some of our tribe. We know for sure we need to be in Kelowna forJuly 2nd and in Toronto come mid-August, so stay tuned as we will be looking for spots to visit and people to meet up with between July and November.
P.S. Thank you for all the words of encouragement and cyber high fives for finally going live with The Life Enhancers site. Working through the glitches, so by all means let us know any suggestions you may have.
P.P.S. Burgers and glute bridges are this week’s docket – enjoy!
Here’s to living life differently and enhancing lives along the way,
Dai, Christie, Chardonae, Brie (and Spencer)
